It is rich in protein and the leaves are rich in betacarotene, iron, calcium, and Vitamin C. The plant has a potent antioxidant activity with a significant level of Vitamin E. The fibres made from the stems are used widely to make a soft, silky, and strong jute rope and used commercially to make geotextiles used for landscaping, roadbuilding and and agriculture. Diversified by-products from jute can be used in cosmetics, medicine, paints, and other products. It is not suitable for growing in cold areas. Plant the seed in spring and summer, The seeds should be immersed in (almost) boiling water for 5 seconds before planting. Sow seeds about 1cm deep.
