Brassica chinensis

This strain of Pak Choi is an open non-heading
variety, with pure white stems and glossy green
leaves.    It is a very fast maturing plant that one
can start picking outer leaves from at only
3 weeks from planting. It is fully mature and ready
to harvest 45-50 days from sowing. Pak Choi
requires the same growing conditions as cabbage
to which it is very closely related. Ensure your soil
is enriched with lime and plenty of organic matter.

Sow seed all year round, although growth will be
slower in the extremes of winter and summer. In
summer it has a tendency to bolt to flower but this
is no problem as the flower heads can be eaten
in salads, stirfries, and steamed as you would
broccolini heads. Make sure you plant regular
sowings for a continuous supply in your kitchen.
Sow seed 0.5-1.0 cm deep Space plants 20-30 cm
apart in rows 30-45 cm apart.
