It makes a great addition to stirfies, chutneys and marinades In the garden it is a very decorative plant not at all out of place in the ornamental section. Plant 1 to 2 weeks after the last average frost date. Place the Basil seeds in well drained soil with lots of organic matter.. It can be grown inside in the winter and is a good container plant. It should be grown in a spot receiving at least six hours of direct sunlight. It is actually quite hardy and will grow continuously given only water Very much a warm season herb it does not tolerate frosts. It should be grown in full sun and will rapidly grow in warm weather. Direct sow in spring, two weeks after last frost and thin seedlings to 30cm apart. Keep soil moist, but not wet. Pinch out seed heads to help prolong life of basil plant.
